Online Counselling

It may be difficult for you to physically attend a session to meet face-to face.  This may be due to such reasons as illness, geographical location, too busy a schedule so little time to travel to an appointment.  If this is the case and you feel that my services can be of benefit to you then online counselling may be a better pathway for you to take.

As long as you have a reliable internet connection we can meet online.  It does not matter where your location is.  I have many clients both in the United Kingdom and abroad who connect with me via Skype or Zoom.  Face time is another medium that can be used for online counselling.  The online counselling offers my clients greater convenience and they have found it to be just as effective as face to face counselling.

How might online counselling help?

How might online counselling help?

As with face to face counselling we will work together on the issues that are troubling you.  Any issues that you would raise if we met face to face can be processed online with you still being able to find your own ways in moving forward by developing a greater awareness of yourself and what is right for you.

How do I choose my therapist?

How do I choose my therapist?

Most information about a counsellor, such as how they work, their qualifications, particular areas of interest and what they charge can be gleaned from their website.  The website will also tell you as to whether or not the counsellor is a member of a professional body and therefore bound to adhere to their code of ethics and standards.  I am an accredited member of the BACP, British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.  All therapists need to have up to date insurance.

How does it work?

How does it work?

As with face to face counselling we will arrange a mutually convenient day and time to meet.  Thereafter the session will be as if we were meeting face to face.  At the prearranged time we will both log onto either Skype or Zoom and connect online for your counselling session.  I ask that the client is the one to make the call as this is them effectively attending the session. If we are happy to continue working together we will arrange our next meeting at the end of the session.

How long do the sessions last?

The sessions last for 50 minutes for an individual and 75 minutes for a couple.

Is online counselling secure and confidential?

Is online counselling secure and confidential?

Anything discussed between us in an online session is subject to the same strict confidentiality as face to face sessions.  There are rare occasions when it might be necessary to consider breaking confidentiality.  This would never be done without reviewing the matter with you first.

I will be in a room that is quiet and isolated so there is no chance of our conversation being overheard.  It will be your responsibility to ensure that you are in a place that affords you the same level of confidentiality.

As the internet can be the subject of being hacked there is always the small risk that this could happen.

The ICO, Information Commissioners Office is an independent public body established to protect personal information.  I have registered with this organisation to ensure that I comply with the Data Protection Act and GDPR.  My details can be found under my entry in the Data Protection Register.

How do I pay?

How do I pay?

Payment is required to be made 48 hours prior to the session by bank transfer.  Please provide your initials and session date as a reference.  The relevant details to facilitate this will be sent to you once we have agreed the time and day of the session.
